How come AI startups forgot everything about packaging?

Should an AI startup offer several plans instead of one?

In short

One-size-fits-all pricing never fits anyone.

Every successful SaaS company packaged its offering. McDonald’s bundles its products in dozens of menus. Even movie theaters built packages to boost popcorn sales.

Yet many AI startups still sell one product, one plan, to everyone.

Giving customers choice is NOT an option.

Good packaging:

  • Accelerates acquisition
  • Reduces pricing friction
  • Shifts conversations from price to value

If you have:

  • New features shipping every month
  • Multiple use cases
  • Customers with very different willingness to pay

...but everyone gets the same thing for the same price... Something is off.

One-size-fits-all pricing never fits anyone.
