How should you price a product you built fast with AI?

In short

In the vibe-coding era, the moat is not the build. It’s everything that happens after.

Building is no longer the hard part. Capturing the value before it disappears... that is.

You just built something in a few days with Claude. People love it. They’re impressed. Some even say they’d pay for it (you actually asked).

Now what?

Here are 3 monetization rules for founders building fast with AI:

1. Price based on value, not effort, not cost

Don't let the time you spent building anchor a number in your head. What matters is what your clients can do with it. Think:

  • ROI,
  • money saved on alternatives,
  • competitive edge from adopting it before their rivals do.

If your price does not reflect the value you deliver, you're not only selling value away. You're making it hard to trust.

2. Test your price

If no one says you’re too expensive, you’re underpriced.

3. If you built it fast, others will too

Your edge is not the product, it’s your retention strategy.

Think retention when you price: promote subscriptions, commitment...

Think retention when you build: enrich the experience for users who've uploaded their data, their files, their context. The more your product knows them, the harder it is to leave.

In the vibe-coding era, the moat is not the build. It's everything that happens after.
